The most interesting thing about this model that they have sent us is summarized in two points: its processor, a 12th Gen Intel i7, and the OLED panel with 2.8K resolution and HDR 500 True Black certificate. Without further delay, let’s see the technical characteristics of the Acer laptop. And yes, it is not a gaming team .

Having seen the components and features of the Acer Swift 3 OLED, it’s time to go into the analysis in depth , going point by point to determine if, in the end, the Acer team is the laptop you need to work or study. Of course, we already anticipate that the sensations have been good.

Portability at its finest

There are a huge number of people who are looking for power and portability in a laptop. The Acer Swift 3 OLED can boast of having both characteristics.

For starters, the laptop is a really contained size of 31.2 x 21.3 x 1.78 cm . This translates to a 14″ with very thin edges.

In addition to its small size, the laptop weighs 1.4 kg . This doesn’t put it on the low end of ultralights, but it does weigh light enough to fit in a backpack/briefcase with little effort. In addition, the charger is very light, so you can travel with the complete equipment without much problem.

Once you take it out of the box you realize that its construction, in aluminum, gives a good feeling. It is a laptop that conveys quality and durability .

No plastic or hinges that creak. These details are what allow the team to endure years of travel.

The 14-inch panel may seem small, but the 16:10 ratio and 2.8K resolution allow for a fairly well-used desktop . If you are going to work in a window, it is perfect, even for photo/video editing programs.

As only complaint: the degrees of opening of the screen. We barely passed 130º and sometimes you will need a little more angle. In those situations you will find yourself forcing the hinge thinking there is a little more leeway. Luckily for her, the quality of this is good and you are not going to load it.

An impressive screen together with a correct sound

We have to talk about the screen. The panel that mounts the Acer Swift 3 OLED is one of the best we’ve ever seen on a laptop. Really. If you’re looking for a device with an impressive display, look no further.

We are talking about an OLED panel with a 2.8K resolution (2,880 x 1,800 pixels) that gives brutal sharpness for a panel only 14 inches in size and a 16:10 format . To this is added a refresh rate of 90 Hz, quite grateful if we play undemanding games or do a lot of scrolling in our day to day.

Finally we have an official brightness of 500 nits and a True Black HDR 500 certification (which has to do with the brightness nits, in this case 500 peak, not sustained). For those looking for color fidelity, the panel offers 100% of the DCI-P3 color spectrum. By the way, we are talking about 243 dpi (pixel per inch).

The translation of all this is that the screen of the Acer Swift 3 OLED looks great. It is perfect for all uses. Watch YouTube videos, code, use Office suite, or edit in Premiere. This OLED panel makes any show look better than ever . So much so that it hurts to go back to our office monitor .

As for the speakers, they do a decent job, but nothing remarkable . Neither for quality nor for power, but they do not clash. Both are located at the bottom, on the sides, so they sound better as long as we are leaning on a table (wooden, if possible).

Seeing what the rest of the brands are incorporating and being a not too fine laptop, Acer should have taken a little more care in the sound section. To see a movie they fall short, but for day to day they comply.

Intel’s 12th Gen does a great job alongside 16GB of RAM

If the screen of the laptop is what stands out the most of the whole team, in second place we have to mention the processor that gives life to the whole laptop: the Intel i7-12700H with 14 cores (6 P-Cores and 8 E-Cores) giving a total of 20 threads.

Regarding the frequency, we speak that high power P-Cores reach 4.7 GHz and E-Cores only reach 3.5 GHz . This translates, in simpler words, into a very good performance in almost all the tasks that we face.

This processor was released on the market at the beginning of the year and has proven to be life insurance for all the computers that have incorporated it into their configuration. It is quite efficient (35 W base consumption that can reach 115 W at full power in peaks), and it is very powerful .

For all tasks that do not go beyond office automation or amateur video montage, it is more than prepared. What weighs it down is the absence of a dedicated graphics card, since it has the integrated Intel Iris Xe that does not clash if we do not put it to the test very often. Of course, forget about playing.

But, no matter how much processor we have, for everything to go smoothly, two more things are needed: a good amount of RAM and a hard drive to match. And in both sections we are well covered.

As for the RAM, after passing the CPU-Z we see that it has 16 GB at 4,800 MHz spread over four slots working in Dual Channel . Task Manager says there are 8 out of 8 slots occupied, but this is because of the Dual Channel micro that each pad does, so it detects twice as many as there are (Microsoft, fix this).

To ensure that the RAM does not consume too much, Acer has chosen the LPDRR5 model, which, although they are low consumption, we will not notice a difference with normal tablets. The good thing is that they go to 4,800 MHz, enough frequency to enjoy the new DDR5 standard.

And if we go to internal storage, the laptop is equipped with a 1 TB Micron NVMe SSD that has given us very good numbers in the benchmarks: 3,624 MB/s reading and 3,448 MB/s writing . It is not a current TOP SSD, but it gives excellent performance.

With all this, day-to-day work is done with great ease. Booting the computer takes 9 seconds, opening any program is immediate and there are no load times . And if we have 6 or 7 open programs and a few Chrome tabs, the team doesn’t complain.

Perfect for working for hours

A laptop must first and foremost be comfortable to use. No matter how many state-of-the-art processors we have or an OLED screen that anyone falls in love with, it has to be pleasant to the touch, with good keys and a good Touch Pad.

In this sense, the Acer Swift 3 OLED does its homework. In the writing section we have a membrane keyboard with a little profile (1.6 mm) that gives a good touch to the keystrokes .

And, with that little tour, I managed to avoid ghost keystrokes when accidentally touching a key. Good job from Acer, who have succeeded in putting a fancy white backlight on it .

The Touch Pad, meanwhile, is one of the big and hard ones. Finished in aluminum, like the rest of the laptop, it can be used both by physically pressing and by touch. Many gestures can be made with the fingers that do not feel strange or usually give problems. Again, good job.

An autonomy that will suffice for many

And since it is a laptop, we have to talk about real autonomy of use. This section explains why the Acer weighs more than its brothers: the battery. It is not that it is noticeable a big difference, but it is enough so that we can work a whole day almost autonomously.

The estimated time that Windows 11 gave us when we loaded it to 100% was 9 hours of autonomy. Of course, this has not been the case, but we have reached 6 hours with the brightness at 30% and working with office automation programs : Office package, some video calls and a lot of browser (such is the life of the journalist).

Acer Swift 3 OLED

If we started to watch content in High Definition, with the brightness at 100% and the speakers at maximum, the battery would give us almost 4 hours. So we cannot complain, they are numbers that are above the average in their sector.

And, as we said at the beginning, the charger is small and very light, so you can always carry it in your backpack, which doesn’t get in the way.

A laptop that gives up almost nothing

And we come to the final part, when we have to ask ourselves if the team offers enough pros to pay the official price of the team.

In Spain we have not yet found any store that sells it, but in the United States it is for $1,199, so here we can get an idea.

Acer Swift 3 OLED review: a good enough first effort | Digital Trends

The Acer Swift 3 OLED is a team that stands out for: its light weight, contained size, spectacular OLED screen and very good performance for tasks that do not have the word gaming in the name. Very few things can be blamed on the laptop.

Apart from the fact that the hinge does not allow us to open the screen more than 130º and that the sound is not as powerful as it could be , the laptop does not suffer from almost anything (we even understand that it does not have a dedicated graphics card, since it would reduce autonomy and it is not designed for tasks that require it).

Even in ports and connections we are well covered : two USB-C (Thunderbolt 4), two USB-A 3.1, an HDMI 2.1 and a port that doubles microphone and speaker output.

If what you are looking for is a powerful laptop, that can last you about 4 or 5 years without noticing wear (despite updates to the operating system and applications), with a very good screen and that is light to transport on a regular basis. So the Acer Swift 3 OLED is one of the best candidates you have on the market right now.
