Vivo has presented the X Fold Plus. It is a foldable smartphone that competes with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4. It is not yet clear whether the device will come to the Netherlands.

Less than half a year after the Chinese Vivo presented its first foldable smartphone, the company is already coming up with a successor. The Vivo X Fold Plus is an improved version of that device. Under the hood we find a Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chip, the fastest mobile processor at the moment. Vivo adds 12GB of RAM and 256 or 512GB of storage space for all your photos and files.

The battery has a capacity of 4730 mAh, which is slightly more than the 4600 mAh of the first X Fold. With 80 Watts, it also charges a bit faster than its predecessor, which stuck at 66 Watts. Other than that, the two devices are the same. Wireless charging still works with a maximum of 50 Watts.

The Vivo X Fold Plus is a direct competitor to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4. Like that phone, the Fold Plus has a traditional screen on the outside, which measures 6.53 inches. When you open the device, you look at a compact tablet with an 8.03 inch display. In both cases, these are beautiful OLED screens with a refresh rate of 120Hz. As a result, images look very smooth.

On camera level, Vivo has an edge over Samsung. In addition to the 50-megapixel main camera, you can shoot wider shots with the 48-megapixel wide-angle lens. You also have two telephoto lenses. A 12 megapixel camera that allows you to zoom in twice and an 8 megapixel periscope lens that brings the image five times closer. Selfies have a resolution of 16 megapixels.

Release in the Netherlands is still uncertain

Vivo has recently also released smartphones in the Netherlands, but this is only a part of the collection. For example, the original X Fold did not appear here. Whether the improved Vivo X Fold Plus will officially come to the Netherlands remains to be seen. In its home country of China, the device costs about 1400 dollars.

The current flagship of the manufacturer, the Vivo X80 Pro, is in any case just for sale here. We were especially aware of the cameras very positive in our review of the X80 Pro. Meanwhile, the company is also rumored to be working on the Vivo X90 Pro, which should take even better photos.
