The Samsung Galaxy S23 phones have been on the market for less than two months and the S24 rumors are already popping up. This time the screen is in the spotlight. Read more about this rumor here.
“Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra gets a high refresh rate”
Samsung screens are highly regarded. Within the smartphone market, we therefore see that many manufacturers also use panels from Samsung. For generations, the screens of Samsung’s S models have been among the best on the market, and more affordable smartphones from the A series, for example, are also equipped with amoled screens and high refresh rates.
According to the latest rumor, Samsung is improving the screen of the Ultra model. The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra will have a refresh rate of 144Hz, according to that SamLover. The current top model – the S23 Ultra – has a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz. The higher the number of Hertz, the smoother the smartphone feels. The screen shows more images per second. In the case of the S24 Ultra, 144 images.
Whether the regular S24 and (maybe) S24 Plus will also get a 144Hz screen is unknown. Sam Lover does claim to know more specifications of the S24 Ultra. The smartphone is equipped with a (not yet released) Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, Android 14, satellite connection and again a 200 megapixel main camera.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra will be the first Galaxy smartphone with a 144Hz screen. Yet Samsung is not the first with this specification. The ROG Phone 5 from Asus also had such a screen and devices from the Motorola Edge 30 series were also equipped with such a high refresh rate. The Asus ROG Phone 6 even supports 165Hz.
What does Samsung improve on the S series?
The Samsung Galaxy S23 series consists of three smartphones: the S23, S23 Plus and S23 Ultra. The entire series is equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, which provides a lot of computing power and relatively little energy consumption. In addition, the design of the S23 and S23 Plus was renewed and the S23 Ultra got a brand new camera.
Not every year we are blown away by the amount of innovation on smartphones. Still, a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra with a 144Hz screen and satellite connection sounds like music to our ears.
