Analyzing the source code of the Pixel 7 camera drivers on GitHub, Wojciechowski has discovered What sensors will Google’s new star terminals use?.
Thus, according to this leak, both the Google Pixel 7 and the 7 Pro will have an 11-megapixel front camera equipped with Samsung’s 3J1 sensor which is very similar in performance to the Sony IMX663 that mounted the Pixel 6 Pro.
The Samsung 3J1 has dual pixel autofocus (DPAF) that, in addition to offering great results with portrait mode photos, will also play a key role in the facial unlocking system of the Pixel 7. This sensor will allow both the Google Pixel 7 and 7 Pro to record videos with the front camera in 4K quality.
As far as the rear cameras are concerned, these will be very similar to those of the previous generation, since the main sensor of both models will remain the same. Samsung GN1 50 megapixel which will be accompanied, again, by a wide-angle camera equipped with the sensor SonyIMX381.
The big difference compared to the Pixel 6 is found in the telephoto camera, since the Pixel 7 will bet on the Samsung GM1 instead of the Sony IMX586 mounted by their predecessors.
