xbox controllers could be scarce" />
Microsoft has confirmed a supply chain disruption that could result in a global shortage of Xbox controllers in stores.
From the chip crisis to the controller crisis! On the VideoGameChronicle website, Microsoft admitted the following:
“We know it might be hard finding Xbox Wireless Controllers right now due to supply disruptions. We’re working as fast as possible with our manufacturing and retail partners to improve this. Please check with your local retailers for availability.”
The post also mentions that several regions around the world currently have no Xbox controllers in stock/warehouse. According to several reports on Resetera, Europe seems to be the hardest hit at the moment.
Controllers are said to be in short supply in France, the Netherlands, Great Britain and Germany. In Austria and the USA it is already beginning. Here and there certain models or certain colors can still be found in online shops. But the selection is shrinking a little more every day.
The current generation of consoles are really not fortunate: First there were problems with the chip production, which led to a shortage of consoles. Then many studios had to reorganize due to COVID – and now the controllers seem to be getting it.
Microsoft’s statement does not state the reason for the problems with the controllers. However, a lack of certain parts or chips is likely.
Let’s hope it’s just a short disruption in the supply chain and things will get back to normal soon!
