Samsung remains the market leader in cell phones globally.
A recent report from the market analysis firm canalys indicates that the Korean company accumulated 22% of global shipments in 2022.
Its closest competitor is Apple, which achieved 19% shipments. The podium completes it Xiaomi with 13%.
OPPO & Vivo both from the Chinese conglomerate BBK, have 9% each, while the rest of the manufacturers keep the remaining 28%.
Trends in the mobile market
Only Samsung & Apple grew in market share compared to 2021, according to the data available canalys.
As is usual, Apple was the leader in shipments during the last quarter of the year, at the same time as the arrival of its new iphone.
In general, the market for cell phones suffered. Shipments were down 11% in 2022 from last year.
“Sellers will approach 2023 cautiously, prioritizing profitability and protecting market share,” said Le Xuan Xiew, an analyst at canalys.
