Sony SRS-NS7 Review : Wearable, Wireless Music | Tech Reviews
The TWS systems have been betting on the “ambient mode”, a function that allows us not to lose the sound context of the street or the surrounding noise, while we consume content from the smartphone . An interesting bet is that of Sony , which has promoted its SRS-NS7 as a “neck speaker” that allows us to listen to music without having to put something in our ears. Is this SRS-NS7 speaker worth it? This is Fadvices review.

Sony SRS-NS7: Here’s what you need to know
It is not the first system I use. For years, I’ve been using Bose Soundwear, a piece of equipment similar in concept to this “neck speaker” from Sony. This concept aims to be a short-field personal entertainment system, and with speakers configured to offer an immersive experience without using headphones.
Comfort. It is the first sensation that this Sony NS7 leaves me, only in contact with the soft plastic and the silicone finishes on the neck. Unlike the Bose Soundwear, the NS7 doesn’t have a protective case, but it does have IPX4 protection so the speaker won’t be damaged by sweat. On the speakers, we have a synthetic fabric cover.
Easy use of controls. In this case, we have interaction buttons on both sides of the device. On the left side we have the volume control surrounding the pause and skip track button, while on the right the power or pairing button is housed next to the microphone MUTE, an entry that is located right next to it.
Simple installation. For a while now, Google Fast Pair has become extremely useful as it adds connection history to our regular devices. When turning on the equipment, I have had the chance to pair them with a single touch from tablets and phones under my Android account. Of course, it is recommended to download the Sony app for your audio equipment, and thus configure the necessary parameters.
The audio quality surprised me, but the volume is not that subtle. The change between 40 and 50% in the volume level is very abrupt, compared to 30 and 40%. In addition, in 60% the sound can be perceived from a distance of 1.5 meters without problems. We have a microphone test in this note, in case you are considering this system for video calls.
Just over 10 hours. Note that it is a very good figure for a system of this size, although my use was below the average promise of 12 hours from Sony. In just over 2 hours we have a full charge, although we do not have an obvious notification for charging cycles – it would be good to add it to the phone app and receive a push notification as soon as the speaker is charged -. Of course, 10 minutes of charging allows us to have up to an hour of playback.
