Vivo has announced its latest flagships. The X90 devices are equipped with the latest and fastest processors and also seem to be able to compete with the cameras.

The Chinese smartphone manufacturer will soon expand its line of top devices. Vivo’s X series is known for good specifications and the camera quality also leaves little to be desired. The specifications of the new Vivo X90, X90 Pro and X90 Pro Plus look promising.

Starting with the real flagship: Vivo X90 Pro Plus. It is powered by the latest and fastest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip. This distinguishes it from the ‘normal’ X90 and the Pro model. The 6.78-inch smartphone has a 120Hz OLED screen and a 4700 mAh battery. The battery charges with a maximum of 80 watts or up to 50 watts wirelessly.

There are four cameras on the back of the smartphone: a 50-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel portrait lens, a 64-megapixel zoom lens and a 48-megapixel wide-angle lens. With the exception of the latter, all lenses offer optical image stabilization to reduce the chance of a blurred photo.

Regular X90 and the Pro model

The other, cheaper models are the X90 and X90 Pro. These have the same design as the Pro Plus with rounded sides and the large round camera island on the back, but compromise on specs. Both smartphones have a 6.78 inch screen with 120Hz, but with a lower resolution than the Pro Plus.

They’re powered by MediaTek’s recently announced Dimensity 9200 chip, which is just a little less snappy than the new Snapdragon chip. Where the X90 Pro has a battery of 4870 mAh, the ‘normal’ X90 has a battery of 4810 mAh. The Pro can also charge it wirelessly and the regular model cannot.

The cameras are a bit less than those of the Pro Plus model. Both cheaper devices have a lesser wide-angle lens of ‘only’ 12 megapixels, and the main camera and telephoto lens on the X90 are also of lower quality.

Price and availability

Vivo has only announced the X90 line in China for now. That’s where the smartphones cost converted 505, 680 and 885 euros. In the Netherlands, the company recently stopped. It is therefore unlikely that the smartphones will appear on the Dutch market.
